Celebrate the arrival of spring at Hull Minster with our joyful May Day celebration in Trinity Square.Tower-top Singing ♪♫~
The morning begins with a truly unique moment as children from our Choral Hull groups sing from the top of the Minster tower (approx. 10:00–10:30am). Their voices, carried across the square, continue a long tradition of music at the heart of Hull.
Maypole Dancing 🌼
After their tower-top performance, the celebration moves to the square below, where you can enjoy traditional Maypole dancing, live performances from local groups, and a relaxed, family-friendly festival atmosphere.
Local Dance Groups 💃🏻🕺🏽
We can't let our choristers steal the whole show! We will periodically have local dance groups get involved with the dancing and music on Trinity Square too! More details to follow.
Garden & Carnival Games ⛹️♂️
There's no better way to celebrate the arrival of spring like the whimsy of a carnival or the joy of outdoor games. On Trinity Square for today only, we will be providing garden games like cornhole, horseshoes and quoits to play with, as well as some park classics, like giant chess and giant Jenga!
Not enough? We'll have a trio of carnival stalls for you to try your luck at. Have a go at hook-a-duck, tin can alley, or ring toss!
Whether you want to participate in the dancing and the games, or just to sit out in the sun on the Square, be sure to stop by the Minster on 1st May and welcome in springtime.
