About this Event

Clay Play Day at Context Collective

Clay Play Day is a grant-supported, open studio clay experience designed to keep hands-on making accessible, welcoming, and community-centered.

Thanks to funding from the Troy Savings Bank Community What If… Grant, we are able to offer six recurring Clay Play sessions throughout 2026. This support allows us to provide materials, instruction, and studio access while keeping the experience low-barrier and sustainable.

How It Works

Participants register for one of two time slots:• 11p–1p2p–4p

A $5 reservation fee is required to hold your spot. This fee helps us manage capacity, prepare materials responsibly, and reduce no-show registrations.

Clay Play is an open-format experience. You will receive a brief orientation, then have time to explore, experiment, and make at your own pace with guidance available throughout the session.

Firing + Pay-What-You-Can Model

While the Clay Play session itself is supported by grant funding, firing your finished pieces is pay-what-you-can. This contribution helps cover kiln costs and ensures we can continue offering accessible programming. Suggested amounts will be shared in-studio, and all contributions are optional.

Pick-Up Timeline

Finished pieces will be glazed and fired after the session and will be ready approximately 3–4 weeks after Clay Play Day.

Participants will receive a pickup notification by email using the email address provided at Eventbrite registration. Please make sure your contact information is accurate at checkout.

Who This Is For

Clay Play is open to all experience levels. No prior ceramics experience is required. This session is ideal for curious beginners, returning makers, and anyone looking for a relaxed, hands-on creative reset.
