1-day live, online workshop led by Jo Boaler on helping students in grades 2-5 develop number sense (includes recording & digital resources)
About this Event

Join Jo Boaler and the youcubed team online to learn how to help students in grades 2-5 develop number sense!

Evidence from research conducted by youcubed and others has shown that students with low and high achievement in mathematics differ significantly in the strategies they use when approaching number problems. High achieving students demonstrate number sense, meaning that they interact with the numbers flexibly and conceptually. Low achieving students do not approach mathematics problems this way, and instead rely on standard methods even when they are difficult or ineffective. In this 1-day live online event, we will explore the latest findings on this topic and share new teaching materials we have developed for encouraging number sense.

The workshop will begin at 8:30 am Pacific Time and end at 3:00 pm Pacific Time, with a lunch break approximately 30 minutes long in the middle. Participants will receive a certificate verifying 6 Professional Development Hours (.6 CEU).

Please note that each participant must log into the workshop individually, from their own device, to be admitted to the workshop. We encourage teams of educators from the same school or district to participate in the workshop together, and we offer discounted tickets for groups of 2 or more, but to be admitted to the Zoom each team member must have a ticket associated with their name. If multiple people from your school or district are planning to attend this workshop, please create a group order using the "Get Tickets" button on this page, and add the number of people attending to your cart. You will then be prompted to provide information about the attendees during checkout, which will enable them to each be admitted individually to the workshop.

All registered participants will receive an email one week before the workshop with a Zoom link and password. After the event, we will provide a recording and a link to all slides or other resources used in the workshop . This post-workshop email will be sent to all registered participants, regardless of whether they logged into the event (so even participants who aren’t able to attend the event live on the scheduled dates will still receive the recording and workshop materials).
