Damals, als er die Minimal Music begründete, war er Ende 20. Heute ist er 87 Jahre alt: Steve Reich, für die New York Times »einer der größten lebenden Komponisten« und für den New Yorker der »originellste musikalische Denker unserer Zeit«.
Zu Radio Rewrite inspirierten Reich zwei Songs der Rockband Radiohead: »Everything in Its Right Place« und »Jigsaw Falling into Place«. Es folgt sein farbenreiches Double Sextet, für das Reich 2009 den Pulitzer-Preis für Musik erhielt. Und in Reich/Richter kehrt der Altmeister der Minimal Music zum Spiel mit kleinen Motivzellen zurück. Das Stück ist in Kombination mit dem Film »Moving Picture« der Videokünstlerin Corinna Belz zu erleben, die aus Fotos von Bildausschnitten Richters eine flirrende Form- und Farbwelt in Bewegtbild schuf.

Back then, when he founded minimal music, he was in his late 20s. Today he is 87 years old: Steve Reich, described by the New York Times as "one of the greatest living composers" and by the New Yorker as the "most original musical thinker of our time".
Reich was inspired to create Radio Rewrite by two songs by the rock band Radiohead: "Everything in Its Right Place" and "Jigsaw Falling into Place". This was followed by his colourful Double Sextet, for which Reich received the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2009. And in Reich/Richter, the grandmaster of minimal music returns to playing with small motif cells. The piece can be experienced in combination with the film "Moving Picture" by the video artist Corinna Belz, who created a shimmering world of form and colour in moving images from photos of Richter's image sections.
