7:00 PM in the New Chapel: Washing of Feet, Holy Eucharist, and Stripping of the AltarThe liturgy of Maundy Thursday, observed on the Thursday in Holy Week, is the first service of the Triduum, the three holy days leading up to Easter. The Gospel of John describes, on that night, Jesus’ institution of the Holy Eucharist and his washing of the disciples’ feet.
The Maundy Thursday service includes the sacrament of foot washing. At its heart, foot washing is meant to remind us to follow in Jesus’ example of humility and service of others.
This service will be followed by the stripping of the altar.
