We Invite You to attend our Maundy Thursday service, which begins at 5:30pm, April 2nd.
Starting with a service of Holy Communion at 5:30pm, we remember the last supper, how Jesus gave himself to his disciples and to us in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, but also how he demonstrated servant love by washing their feet. This is the essence of the lordship of Christ, that he does not lord over us but rather comes as one who serves. We will have an opportunity to follow in his steps by washing each other's feet (as each is comfortable). We then process to Memorial Hall for an Agape Meal, where your vestry will serve you a simple soup supper in remembrance of that last supper Jesus spent with his friends. Our liturgy culminates with the stripping of the altar, as we return to the sanctuary to remove all decorations together symbolizing the stripping of Jesus and his arrest. Lastly, for those who wish to remain, we will keep vigil at the Altar of Repose in honor of Christ's agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, when he asked the disciples "Could you not remain awake with me for but one hour?"
