MATT VENUTI is an electro-acoustic multi-Instrumentalist and "sound-alchemist", renowned for his performances using of rare, expressive instruments, Matt was a pioneer in bringing the Electronic Valve Instrument (EVI) wind-synthesizer and the melodic/percussive Hang (the inspiration that led to Handpans) to the forefront of contemporary performance. His music is a fluid blend of technical artistry and soulful, acoustic expression, creating music and sound that is both innovative and deeply organic. Matt tours the country yearly with over 100 performances, orchestrating a dialogue between twelve different instruments, a looping device, and his voice. His music has been lauded by the likes of Thomas Dolby, Herbie Hancock, George Lucas, Bonnie Raitt, Stan Getz and Matt Groening. Two of Matt’s albums appeared in the top 10 on College (CMJ) Radio Charts and the Zone Music Reporter. He was Artist In Residence in both the Everglades and Shenandoah National Park in 2019 and brings inspiring songs, sound-scapes and stories from his travels and adventures to the stage.
