About this Event
Matt McGinn is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Hilltown in Co. Down, Northern Ireland. He studied music at Queens University in Belfast, yet cites his early days as his real musical education trawling through his parent’s record collection, from Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson to Beatles and Beethoven while listening to stories and music from all kinds of characters as he went door to door delivering coal. He learned complex harmonies in the school choir and later delved into the sounds Hendrix and Horslips. Then along came John Martyn, Nick Drake Bob Dylan, Planxty, Robert Johnson, Paul Brady & Andy Irvine. He drew inspiration from them all.
Matt spent 2025 on the road with among others, Paul Brady and Mary Black as their special guest. He released the fantastic single 'Analog Man in a Digital World' that was written with and features Paul Brady. He headlined his first Celtic Connections show and is set to release a Foy Vance co-write later in the year. His new collaboration, DEAD GOAT has been labeled as the North’s answer to the Traveling Wilburys.
In this intimate setting, Matt will be performing songs from his extensive catalogue as well as a peak into the songbook of his first love, The Beatles.
