Matt Krahula is a singer-songwriter signed to Pacific Records. Throughout his career, he's been based out of New York, Hawaii, and Illinois. In the early 2010’s, his group, The Nightmare River Band, quickly rose to the top of the NYC
music scene. The band performed at festivals such as Summerfest and SXSW. Their single “Mary” earned a nomination for an Independent Music Award (Best Alt-Folk Song), while their sophomore album, “Last Goodbye” found its way to the College Music Top 40.
After years of constant touring, Krahula was in search of new inspiration and headed to the island of Oahu. On Oahu, Matt linked up with Grammy Nominated, Henry Kapono. From 2018-2025, Matt toured as Kapono's bassist. His work with the legendary musician put him in the biggest venues in Hawaii, sharing stages with the likes of Chicago and Mick Fleetwood.
During this time, Matt conceived the 4th Nightmare River Band record, a re-imagination of NRB’s album, “Last Goodbye”. The project is a compilation of Matt’s talented friends. Each friend recreated a song from the original album in their own style. Same songs, 11 new artists, 11 years later. The album was released in 2024 to rave reviews, featuring artists such as Quiet Hollers, Panama Wedding and Dan Romer.
In 2025, Matt bid Hawaii “a hui hou” (until we meet again), and headed to the mainland. On his way back east he made a stop in Los Angeles, where he recorded bass for the new Lilo and Stitch movie. His 7th album, “This Island Life”, was released this July on Pacific Records. It's an autobiographical album about his time in Hawaii.
