Exploring our sustainable future through Biomaterials - join us for an open day of materials exploration in the STEAMhouse materials lab
About this Event

Materials Club invites practitioners to join us in the STEAMhouse materials lab to explore and share biomaterials developments with our community of practitioners. Each month the STEAMhouse creative laboratory opens for a free 1-day session, inviting new and existing members of materials club to make use of the workshop facilities to explore parts of their ongoing biomaterials practice. This is a great opportunity to come and visit the space and meet other active members of the community exploring areas such as fungi cultivation, bacterial cellulose, plant dying, biomass material development and much more. You'll also have the opportunity to meet dedicated technicians working in the space to answer any questions and support with business/project ideas.

W hat is Materials Club?

Materials Club has been active as a community-led research group in Birmingham since 2019. Now in its fifth year, it has become a creative-led research space exploring questions related to our ecological future through deep material practices.

We support and cultivate projects that look to use materials in new, different, and sustaining ways. This includes working with waste, nature, and within the values of circular design. We encourage collaboration and open conversation allowing new knowledge to be shared and developed collectively. This is a space to be inspired, learn, engage, and become part of a growing community.

How else can I get involved?
