About this Event
Catch up with fellow University of Illinois Alumni with a bowl of freshly-whisked matcha and a wagashi (traditional Japanese sweet) as you visit the inside of Japan House.
NOTE: Registration is FREE to visit Japan House, but matcha and wagashi must be purchased ($12) while registering.
Matcha can be enjoyed any time of the day, with or without the formal tea ceremony. We have decided to make this a more casual day allowing guests to enjoy this special treat at their leisure.
Enjoy the beautiful Japanese gardens from the inside as you view the three Japanese tea rooms in the general teaching area. See the equipment and elements of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, as well as be introduced to other special events and workshops available to the public throughout the year.
Guests are encouraged to shop a selection of handcrafted and imported items, as well as matcha tea and tea ceremony equipment. Cash, check and credit cards accepted.
Guests will be asked to remove your shoes upon arrival, or to use provided shoe covers. You are encouraged to bring a fresh pair of socks to wear.
