🍵 Matcha & Japanese Culture: Learn, Whisk, Taste
We’ll explore Japanese matcha culture, learn traditional whisking techniques and make and enjoy matcha together.
This beginner-friendly event is led by Airi, a Japanese matcha host based in Chicago. Through guided tasting and hands-on practice, you’ll learn what real matcha is, how it’s traditionally prepared, and why it’s meant to be enjoyed with intention—not just as a latte.
What to expect:
- Learn the basics of matcha and its role in Japanese culture
- Experience a traditional-style matcha preparatio
- Whisk and enjoy your own bowl of matcha
- Taste Wagashi and reflection
No prior experience is needed. All matcha and tools are provided. This experience is open to beginners, matcha lovers and anyone curious about Japanese culture.
About the host:
Airi is a Japanese matcha educator who creates content and shares authentic matcha practices and cultural experiences in Chicago. Her goal is to help people slow down, connect and deepen their appreciation for matcha beyond trends.
