Join us for the 40th anniversary of the Cal Poly Humboldt Calypso Band, founded by Dr. Eugene Novotney. Special guests include steelpan virtuoso Liam Teague, acclaimed artist and educator Dr. Josanne Francis, and young prodigy Jaden Teague-Núñez.The band delivers high-energy Calypso and Soca, shaped by masters like Ray Holman and Len “Boogsie” Sharpe.
Liam Teague, Professor of Music at Northern Illinois University, is internationally renowned for expanding the steelpan’s possibilities, performing worldwide and collaborating with Grammy-winning artists.
Dr. Josanne Francis, a Trinidad & Tobago native, is an award-winning performer, composer, and educator. She has appeared at major venues including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, collaborates across genres, and leads innovative steelpan education and community programs.
At 18, Jaden Teague-Núñez is a rising talent and recent winner of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition.
