Join Tamron Ambassador Tony Shepherd for an inspiring workshop dedicated to the timeless art of monochrome photography. Learn how to pre-visualize scenes in black and white, harness the power of available light, and craft images that evoke mood, depth, and emotion. Through hands-on exercises and expert guidance from Tony, youâll explore techniques that transform everyday moments into striking, dramatic compositions. Perfect for photographers looking to elevate their creative vision and embrace the beauty of simplicity. All levels of photographers are welcome!
Â
The class will begin at Midwest Photo with a presentation and demonstration, then there will be an hour break. Lunch is not provided.
After that, we invite attendees to travel to the Columbus Metropolitan Library (96 S Grant Ave, Columbus, OH 43215) and the Topiary Garden nearby (480 E Town St, Columbus, OH 43215) in order to put what youâve learned into practice out in the world!
Tony Shepherd is a Nashville-based fine art and street photographer working primarily in black and white under the name PixByShep. His work focuses on clarity, mood, and form, with an emphasis on pre-visualization, available light, and intentional composition within everyday environments.
Â
Before turning his full attention to photography, Tony spent years in the music industry as a Grammy-nominated and Dove Awardâwinning producer, an experience that continues to shape his disciplined approach to timing, structure, and creative decision-making.
Â
Tonyâs photography has been featured in exhibitions, publications, and brand collaborations, and his approach centers on what he calls the art of noticingâslowing down, paying attention, and responding with intention.
