A Live Communication Session with Martin Barnes. One founder closed £1 million from a 2-minute phone call. This session shows you how.
About this Event

One founder closed £1 million from a 2-minute phone call. This session shows you exactly how — and puts your pitch to the test.

Most founders know their business inside out. The problem isn't knowledge, it's the 30 seconds after someone asks "so, what do you do?"

This 45-minute session is built around a single idea: the right story, told in the right order, does more work than any slide deck. Communication coach Martin Barnes brings a framework used by founders across industries to cut the noise, find the spine of their story, and make every conversation count — whether it's a cold introduction, a room full of investors, or a chance encounter at the bar.

What happens in the room

Martin opens with a real story: a founder who built the perfect pitch deck, then left it in his bag. He read the room, trusted his instincts, and closed £1 million from a 2-minute phone call instead. Knowing when to use your tools is just as important as having them.

From there, the session moves fast. You'll see the framework live, watch it applied to real business stories, and — if you're brave — bring your own pitch into the room.

This session includes:

· A live demo of the 3 Beat Mountain framework, sketched in the room

· Real case studies from founders who rewired how they talk about their businesses

· 2–3 live pitch reworks — volunteers from the audience get coached in real time

You'll leave with:

· A clearer, sharper way to introduce what you do

· One practical technique you can use the same day

· A framework you'll actually remember

Who is this for? Anyone in the NatWest Hub community who talks about their business for a living — which is everyone. Especially useful if you're heading into a funding conversation, a new market, or just tired of your own answer to "tell me about your business."

About Martin Martin Barnes is a communication trainer and coach with 25 years of experience working with founders, executives, and teams across Asia and Europe. His work is hands-on, high-energy, and built around the belief that the best communication is learned by doing — not watching. He doesn't do slides. He does live.
