School can be a wonderful place of satisfying the curiosity to learn. Educators are keen to support the avid learner to gain from their continued creative efforts. Students are not only going through cognitive development, but they are also growing physically and socially, ever increasing their executive skills to stay on par with their peers. For some students though, school proves to be anxiety provoking and troublesome to the point of fight / flight behaviors. It becomes difficult for educators to find effective solutions to counter emotional moments. Therapists work with the educational team to support with strategies adding their toolkit of ideas to enable such students to settle down in their learning environment to the best extent possible. This workshop is aimed at providing support for both the educator and the therapist to better enable the thinking around a students’ profile, and to provide strategies that turn hard moments into moments of opportunity and validation.Venue: Bellavista School, 35 Wingfield Ave, Birdhaven, JHB
