About this Event
Please join PCNW as we welcome acclaimed photographer Victoria Sambunaris for a Masterclass artist talk followed by a book signing exploring her expansive career exploring the ecological transformation of the American Western landscape. Traversing the country alone on annual months-long expeditions, Sambunaris photographs, records, and documents the shifting tension between industry, infrastructure, history, geology, and contemporary environmental awareness. Sambunaris is the recipient of numerous awards including the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship (2021), an Aaron Siskind Photographer’s Fellowship (2011), and the Anonymous Was a Woman Award (2010). Her work is in the collections of institutions including the Whitney Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC. Her first monograph Taxonomy of a Landscape was published by Radius Books in 2013 and her second Transformation of a Landscape has just been released by Radius Books.
