Explore motion through short-form digital animation in this hands-on master class led by Seamless: Art and Design exhibiting artist Jordan Bruner. Participants will create an original animated GIF using Adobe Photoshop and Wacom tablets while learning the fundamentals of frame-by-frame animation, looping, timing, and visual storytelling. Develop ideas from initial sketches to a finished digital loop, and receive individualized feedback throughout the process.Jordan Bruner is an artist and filmmaker whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, printmaking, ceramics, and animation. She earned her BFA in Kinetic Imaging from VCU before pursuing a career in animation in New York. Her work has appeared at CADAF Miami and in installations commissioned by the MTA Arts & Design program in New York City. Her animated films have screened internationally at festivals including Pictoplasma and the LA Film Festival. She has collaborated with clients such as The New York Times, The Atlantic, Warby Parker, and Eve Ensler, and she received the Art Directors Club Young Guns Award in 2013. Bruner returned to Richmond in 2019, where she continues her studio practice.
All skill levels welcome. Ideal for those interested in digital media, animation, illustration, or design.
There will be a 30-minute lunch break, so please bring a bagged lunch.
