About this Event
This master class in glass casting draws from 40 years of my studio work and the fabrication jobs I have done for other artists. I use PowerPoint presentations coupled with a comprehensive handout that covers basic skills and details how complex projects are brought to completion. This lecture format allows us to cover a significant amount of material, and ample time for Q&A is scheduled so participants can pose specific, project-based questions for class discussion.
Please note that this is NOT a hands-on class.
A partial list of subjects covered includes:
- History of Kiln Casting
- Overview of casting techniques
- Devitrification
- Basic plaster rules
- Numerous mold recipes
- Firing and Annealing Schedules
- Annealing Issues
- Glass choices
- Kiln design
- Large scale casting
- Jigs and fabrication
The class is beneficial for artists of all levels but in particular artists who are somewhat experienced with various glass casting methods.
