Mass Timber Construction: Lessons Learned From a Mass Timber Installer Perspective

During this presentation you will learn how to properly have a successful mass timber installation for your next mass timber project.

We will highlight some of our lessons learned during construction with recently built projects from across North America.

Learning about the proper sequencing and co-ordination from beginning to end of the construction process will serve as a guide as to what can be avoided to save on time and budget.

This session is hosted by WoodWORKS! along with presentation by Jason Beamish of Beam Craft Incorporated.

About the speaker:

Jason Beamish started his framing career in 1995 with a local framing company, Blackmud Creek Construction. He worked in framing either for others or with his own residential framing crew all while completing his Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter Certificate at Nait.

He was first introduced to traditional timber framing (wood to wood joinery “mortise and tenon”) through his uncle.… he was captured and dove all in to learning heavy timber. He worked for Mira Timber Frames for 4 years and then moved on eventually opening Beam Craft Timber Framing in 2009 with his partner Julius Kettler. They ran that for 5 years and installed timber frames and SIP projects across Western Canada.

Around 2015 they learned about the upcoming Mass Timber change and they showed up at Brock Commons (once the tallest mass timber tower in the world, based in Vancouver at the UBC Campus) and Seagate put them to work. That changed their focus completely and now Beam Craft has developed into an experienced team of carpenters, detailers, and managers. They are the sought after builders of heavy timber, mass timber, and lightwood framed structures.

Very limited spots are available for these lunch and learn sessions. (We kindly ask that you only register if you fully intend to show up for the session as seating is very limited).
