We are meeting at Ululah Lagoon/Anzac Park on the 8th of December at 6:00 am to ride from Maryborough to Urangan along the Mary2Bay Rail Trail, just one way, approximately 51.7 kms, with much of it off-road.Due to parts of the trail not yet completed, this ride is not possible without the local knowledge of some of our Mary2Bay Rail Trail ambassadors who will be leading us on the day.
We will be riding via parts of the completed rail trail and via detours round the uncompleted parts. Right now the official rail trail is not complete but the detours are okay and make the ride perhaps more interesting!
Allow 4.5 to 6 hours from leaving Maryborough to our arrival in Urangan. We will be having regular breaks along the way.
Cyclists will need to have a reasonable level of fitness and experience on a bike. All cyclists are to have spare tubes, pumps, lots of water and own food, first aid and provisions for the trip. E bikes are okay, as long as they are able to ride off road on some rough terrain in parts.
There may be the possibility of some cyclists getting a lift back to Maryborough with their bikes, but we will be looking for offers from those who have suitable vehicles and bike racks to park at the Urangan Pier and get a lift back to Maryborough to start the ride. If anyone is willing to assist with coordination, please comment or post within this event, or contact admin (Jo Collins).
