About the Event:
Step into Mary Shelley’s most famous gothic novel in a new and terrifying way.
This immersive production will take you back in time to 1806, when scientific discoveries were on the rise, ladies wore high-waisted dresses, and an ambitious experiment was at the top of a certain Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s list. This new adaptation by Alisa Stewart will bring audiences inches from the ambitious doctor and his creature, inside the world in which they live. Told from the point of view of Margaret Saville, you’ll witness the creature’s journey of discovery and loneliness, and Dr. Frankenstein’s determination to hunt down the terrible, murderous experiment that he created.
The Story:
The story follows Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who becomes obsessed with the idea of creating life. He sets aside his relationships with his family to focus on being the first to bring a being to life using methods of reanimation, but is horrified by the Creature's appearance and immediately abandons it. The life of the Creature becomes a tragic one as he is rejected by society and struggles with isolation and the need for companionship, leading to its descent into violence and vengeance against its creator and his family.
In this adaptation, we explore the human need for connection, the pain of isolation, and the complex relationship between creator and creation. A moving and powerful adaptation that will stay with you long after the final applause.
This is not your typical live theater event. There are no rows of seats nor a proscenium stage. This is an immersive, intimate production in which you will be inside the very room where the actors perform, and move with them as they travel from place to place. There is no bad angle. Conversations will happen only feet from your eyes.
