Mark Pringle, Felix Henkelhausen and Ugo Alunni return to Donau115 for the third time in 3 years to explore the jazz standard repertoire.
Mark Pringle is a British pianist and composer based in Berlin, working at the intersection of various forms of composed and improvised music. He is a Yamaha Jazz Scholar, Peter Whittingham Award winner, German Jazz Prize nominee (with LIUN + The Science Fiction Band) and has performed at numerous prominent locations across the UK, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Iceland, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Greece, Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands, including for BBC national radio. Mark works as a leader, side-person and collaborator in diverse artistic projects internationally with some of the most important voices of his and other generations, and can be found performing in contexts ranging from contemporary jazz and free improvisation to classical chamber music (notable performances include Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time), synth-pop, art song and new music.
Felix Henkelhausen was born in 1995 in Oldenburg (DE) and started with classical piano and cello lessons at an early age. Later he became interested in the double bass and started his pre-studies at the HfK Bremen with Prof. Detlev Beier at the age of 16. From 2014-2019, Felix studied at the Jazz-Institut Berlin. He performed in Germany, France, Iceland, Belgium, Poland, Ukraine, China, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Lithuania and the UK. Despite his young age, Felix has played with national and international renowned musicians such as: Nate Wooley, Toby Delius, Eric Mcpherson, Marc Copland, Jochen Rueckert, Lotte Anker, Andrea Parkins, Achim Kaufmann, Tom Rainey, Oli Steidle, Jim Black, Pablo Held, Gebhard Ullmann, Wanja Slavin, Peter Schlamb, Grischa Lichtenberger, Dave Liebman and many others.
Ugo Alunni is a drummer from Perugia, Italy. He attended the Conservatorio di Musica ""Francesco Morlacchi” di Perugia (2000-2004) after which he moved to New York for further studies at the Collective School of Music (2005-2006). He has been living in Berlin since 2010 where he studied at the Jazz Institut Berlin under the guidance of John Hollenbeck, Kurt Rosenwinkel and David Friedman, graduating in 2016. He has played with Rossano Emili, Perugia Jazz Orchestra, Pietro Tonolo, Joe Chambers, Alessandro Lanzoni, Elias Stemeseder, Marcin Masecki, Tarek Yamani and many others.
