Welcome to Maritime Innovation Week 2024, hosted by the 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub.
Join us at the BT Tower in London ( and ), and the 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub, Port of Tyne (21st November). , and the ). Each day will be filled with inspirational ideas, networking opportunities, and the latest innovations in the maritime industry. Our theme for 2024 is Accelerate and Amplify - innovating faster and better, getting research and new technologies, materials, fuels into scaleable solutions.
This is an amazing opportunity to witness engaging panels, action-focused round tables, and inspiring keynotes from industry leaders, ideal for anyone passionate about collaborating to shape the future of the maritime sector.
Supported by our key partners—BT, the Department for Transport, Frazer-Nash Consultancy, the British Ports Association, Connected Places Catapult, Hitachi, ORE Catapult, and the North East Automotive Alliance—this event explores forward-thinking themes aligned with Maritime 2050 and net zero strategies, showcasing cutting-edge technology for maritime applications.

DAY 2
On Day 2 we'll be tackling the big question: How do we speed up and scale research and innovation in the maritime sector? The focus will very firmly be on turning innovation into action, in partnership with the London Stock Exchange, Scale Up Britain, Praxis Auril, the Clean Maritime Research Hub and Venture Connect. We'll be exploring how to move beyond feasibility into meaningful transformation.
- Large and Medium-Sized Maritime Organisations: Fast-track your innovation and decarbonisation efforts with the latest insights and partnerships.
- SMEs, Startups, Scale-Ups, Spin-Outs: Connect with industry experts and learn more about how to accelerate your journey from concept to commercial success.
- Researchers and Academics: Bridge the gap between research and real-world impact by collaborating with industry leaders.
- Angel Investors: Explore and support investment in clean maritime innovation.
Wednesday 20th November Day 2 Themes:
- Funding for spin-outs & SMEs: Unlocking resources for emerging companies.
- Commercialising solutions: Moving from solving problems to making real-world impact.
- Transdisciplinary research: Collaborating across fields to drive breakthroughs.
- Concurrent design: Streamlining design processes for faster outcomes.

Sessions include:
- A keynote address from Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange.
- Presentation from Amanda Selvaratnam, Chair of Praxis Auril, the UK’s professional association for KE practitioners working in universities, private and public sector research organisations to manage IP commercialisation, collaboration and other types of engagement between researchers and external organisations.
- Start-up, spin out and scale up showcases from industry entrepreneurs and researchers.
- Investor panel discussions.
- Fireside chats focusing on growing and scaling as a net zero company.
- Maritime Accelerator Showcase, with the Connected Places Catapult.
- UK's Clean Maritime Research Hub - one year on, with Professor Tony Roskilly.
- Sunset drinks on the house at the top of BT Tower - a great opportunity, as this is not open to the public. BT also spoil us throughout the day with delicious food, refreshments and hospitatlity.
