About this Event
One of the most important, daring, bold and controversial performance artists in the world. This exhibition is the first ever UK exhibition to present Marina Abramović’s life’s work. We will see works from her 50 year long career – including live re-performance of iconic works. Since the beginning of her career, Abramović has continued to test the limits of her own physical and mental endurance. In her 1974 piece, Rhythm 0, Ambramović placed her fate in the hands of the audience by inviting them to interact with her however they chose, the performance famously resulted in a loaded gun being held to her head. The exhibition has been curated in close collaboration with the artist.
The lecture by Helen Oakden will prepare you for the exhibition so that you can make the most of your time in the gallery and gain the greatest insight into the works. Please join us for lunch afterwards in the Jose Pizarro restaurant at the RA.
