What's a Mariculture Nerd Nite?
Come learn what Alaskans are growing in the ocean — and why they can't stop talking about it.
Mariculture Nerd Nite brings together farmers, researchers, and seafood enthusiasts for an evening of snack-sized talks and sea-grown stories from the world of mariculture.
Speakers get exactly 5 minutes to share something they're passionate about, whether that's oysters, kelp, sustainable aquaculture, or the future of Alaska's coastal economy. No jargon, no lengthy presentations- just big enthusiasm in small doses.
What to Expect:
While speakers take the mic, you're free to snack and get crafty. Grab a drink, sample some food, paint an oyster shell, and catch a talk or two along the way.
🎤 Nerd Nite Talks — Short, 5-minute presentations from people who are passionate about mariculture topics.
🐚 Oyster Shell Painting — Take home a hand-painted shell as a memento of the evening. Supplies provided.
🍽️ Buffet — Sample fresh Alaska oysters, kelp meatballs, kelp condiments, hot and cold appetizers and more.
🍺 Cold Drinks — Cash bar at 49th State Brewing's East Barrel Room.
