Maria Somerville
Den shoegazede, minimalistiske og drømmeagtige lyd på den roste forgænger, ‘All My People’, er blevet kaldt “A work of immense precision and subtly” og “a beautiful concoction of dream pop goodness”.
For albummet er “an exercise in intense presentness, one that holds the awe and exhaustion of embodied existence”. På ‘When You Wake Up’ møder tågede guitarlyde Molinas æteriske vokaler og lagdelte samples.

In English:
Welcome to an evening dedicated to ethereal vocals. Irish musician Maria Somerville and Danish-Chilean artist Molina will captivate you with their mesmerizing voices and dizzying guitar soundscapes. It’s bound to be a magical night at ALICE!
Maria Somerville
The sound of Irish musician Maria Somerville is wonderfully hazy. Raised among the mountains of Connemara on Ireland’s west coast and now based in Dublin, she paints picturesque landscapes in her music: a meeting of hushed, hypnotic vocals and nostalgic, floating guitar tones. Her enchanting, misty pop is the perfect soundtrack for our inner melancholy — and our daydreams.
Maria Somerville visits ALICE just days after the release of her second album, ‘Luster’, out on April 25 via indie label 4AD. The shoegazy, minimalist, and dreamlike sound of her acclaimed debut, ‘All My People’, has been described as “a work of immense precision and subtlety” and “a beautiful concoction of dream pop goodness.” We’ve already had a taste of its successor. From the single “Garden” the upcoming album sounds very promising. It’s bound to be a magical night at ALICE!
Molina
Molina also paints landscapes through her music. The pop sound crafted by the Danish-Chilean musician, producer, and composer blends the unpolished with the graceful. As the Danish newspaper Information wrote in its review of her 2020 EP ‘Vanilla Shell’, her music is “sophisticated and addictive.”
Now, Molina is back with her debut album, “When You Wake Up”, released last fall on Escho. Much of the record was written during her pregnancy —and in a way, you can hear it. At least according to Pitchfork’s review, which describes the album as “an exercise in intense presentness, one that holds the awe and exhaustion of embodied existence.” On ‘When You Wake Up’, hazy guitar textures intertwine with Molina’s ethereal vocals and layered samples. We can’t wait to be lulled by Molina’s irresistible, shoegazy and somewhat surreal pop sound when she takes the stage at ALICE this May!
