Let’s dive into the basics of oil painting in this two day workshop. We’ll start by experimenting with color mixing, mediums and using mark making techniques before moving into Alla Prima Painting techniques. Students will gain an understanding of how using their own sketches and photographic reference can serve as a launching point for strong compositions, graphic narratives and work that is expressly unique to each individual. This class is suitable for beginning and intermediate painters.

Supply List: All supplies are available through Dickblick.com

A note regarding paint - this is a suggested starting point. The goal is to at least have a warm and a cool of each of the primary colors. Plus a generous amount of Black and White. If you don’t have these exact colors, but have warms and cools of each of the primaries, perfect. If you have additional colors, great! Bring them along. I generally prefer to use Gamblin Oil Paint, but please bring what you have on hand. *For my white, I use a mix ratio of 50/50 Permalba White and Gamblin Titanium white.
