About this Event
Margit Rowell—Luciano Fabro: Reinventing Sculpture (Monacelli, 2024)
Luciano Fabro (1936–2007) was an original member of Arte Povera, the materials- and experience-based art movement that emerged in Italy in the late 1960s. He went on to be exhibited internationally, becoming the first artist from the group to receive a major US retrospective, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 1992. Written by esteemed critic and curator Margit Rowell, who collaborated with Fabro repeatedly in his later years, this comprehensive, heavily illustrated monograph is the first complete overview of Fabro’s career.
Margit Rowell is an art historian and independent curator who has held key curatorial positions at cultural institutions in the United States and Europe, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Centre Georges Pompidou, and the Museum of Modern Art. She is the author, coauthor, or contributor to numerous books on twentieth-century artists. She lives in Paris.
Matilde Guidelli-Guidi is a curator and curatorial department head at Dia Art Foundation. Her upcoming projects include exhibitions of work by Cameron Rowland, Kishio Suga, and Duane Linklater; discursive commissions to Paul Pfeiffer, Alan Michelson, and Martine Syms; and a primary-source book of Senga Nengudi’s drawings, writings, and performances for the camera.
