COMMUNITY FILM EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT | LABOUR DAY LONG WEEKEND 2026 We’re excited to officially invite Mareeba Drive-In to partner with us in sharing details of a very special double feature film event coming to Far North Queensland.
On Sunday, 3 May 2026 (Labour Day long weekend), the Mareeba Drive-In will host a double feature showcasing two of writer/director Danial Donai’s recent award-winning films:
- Deep Red Water
- The Night Flyers
This event is being held to raise awareness for the promotional preview film of ‘John the Revelator’- a film based around a true story and unsolved mystery unique to Kuranda and Far North Queensland, deeply rooted in the region’s natural heritage, landscapes, and community spirit.
Importantly, the Mareeba Drive-In itself will feature in the film, alongside the iconic environments of the Atherton Tablelands, reinforcing our commitment to supporting local businesses, locations, and people through screen storytelling.

• A classic drive-in double feature screening
• Live music with Carinda Christie
• Q&A session with the writer/director of SilverFox Films
• Prize raffles and giveaways
