We will then march from City Park to Civic Center Park

The annual MLK Marade combines a march and parade to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the national holiday held every third Monday in January. Organized by the MLK Colorado Holiday Commission since 1986, the Marade in Denver brings together thousands to walk over a two-mile route from City Park to Civic Center Park. Participants gather by the MLK Jr. statue in City Park at 10:00 a.m. for opening ceremonies before stepping off down E. Colfax Ave at 11:45 a.m.

The Marade provides an opportunity to reflect on civil rights history while advocating for continued progress toward King’s vision of justice, equality and unity. Marching with diverse community groups allows people to stand in solidarity, motivated by his message of nonviolent activism. A free celebration in Civic Center Park follows with speakers and entertainment. The Marade upholds King’s fight for economic and social justice by raising awareness through peaceful demonstration. Joining the Denver Democrats’ contingent allows us to march in unity to support common ideals of diversity, inclusion and human rights.
