Join us on Wednesday from 6:30 – 8 pm for our Public Domain Theatre program! This month’s free movie night features a surrealist double feature: L’Âge d’Or (1930) and An Andalusian Dog (1929).Created by Luis Buñuel in collaboration with Salvador Dalí, these groundbreaking films challenge logic, morality, and convention through shocking, dreamlike imagery and dark satire. An Andalusian Dog shattered cinematic norms with its infamous opening sequence, while L’Âge d’Or expands Buñuel’s rebellious vision into a bold critique of society, religion, and desire. Together, they remain essential works of avant-garde cinema that continue to provoke, confuse, and inspire nearly a century later.
💡 Fun fact: L’Âge d’Or was so controversial upon release that it was banned in several countries and sparked riots in Paris—cementing its place in film history.
This event is free, and light concessions will be available for purchase during the show. Please stick around after the films for a post-screening discussion with host Dennis Everette.
