We are honored to have John Michael Chappelle of Chappelle Excursions share with us.John Michael Chappelle is a local resident of Baldwin County. He was born and raised in the small, yet well-known community of Point Clear, AL. He has spent his entire life enjoying Mobile Bay from fishing, hunting, and bird watching, along with banding birds with The Hummingbird Study Group (Bob and Martha Sargent) at Fort Morgan. He has had a love for birds since he was 8 years old. John Michael loves to take photos, but he considers himself an amateur photographer. He now owns and operates Chappelle Excursions, taking people out on the waters of Mobile Bay, the Mobile-Tensaw Delta and the surrounding waters while he shares his knowledge of birds, local history, and the importance of conservation to preserve this ever so delicate ecosystem that ranks as one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet. John Michael has also furthered his education by previously being a part-time captain for Blakeley State Park tours and becoming a Master Naturalist of Freshwater & Upland Communities.
This presentation will focus on Mobile Bay and the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. John Michael will be sharing photos that he has taken along with his personal experiences out on the waters in the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, Gaillard Island, and out and about on Mobile Bay. There will be educational points about birds, flowers, wildlife and history.
