PRESENTER: Jason Richwine
BIO: Jason Richwine is the Chiller Regional Sales Manager for Johnson Controls’ North Region. He began his career in 1999 as a consulting engineer outside of Pittsburgh. He designed air systems primarily for hospitals, laboratories, and high-tech buildings. He came to Johnson Controls at the end of 2003 and has had a variety of roles in the air-handling and chiller businesses.
Jason graduated from Grove City College with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He has been a member of ASHRAE since 2000 and has served in various roles with the Pittsburgh and Central PA chapters. Jason lives in Carlisle, PA with his wife Ali, son Barrett, and daughter Tenley. He is active in his church where he serves as school board president for the Christian School of Grace Baptist Church, teaches adult Sunday School, and performs other volunteer duties.
DESCRIPTION: Heat pumps, energy recovery, simultaneous heating and cooling are all becoming more popular in HVAC systems. We understand the need to design more energy efficient systems. But it’s not always clear which product types or system arrangements will work best. Further, heat pump and energy recovery systems can be complex to control and operate, even if they are designed well. This presentation explains the fundamental concepts that guide decision-making for engineers and owners when considering these options.
