A város éjszaka nem alszik, csak kivonja magából az embereket. Zselinsky Miroslav fekete-fehér fotói egy depopulizált Budapest lenyomatai: séták és kószálások során talált terek, fények, élek és tükröződések. A flâneur tekintete itt nem romantikus, hanem analitikus: a járókelőből érzékelő felület lesz, a városból pedig lassú, sötétben izzó organizmus. A képek egy hideg, ipari test fragmentumaiként jelennek meg, mintha a város saját bőrdarabjai kerülnének vissza a falra: maradványesztétika, amelyben a hiány nem veszteség, hanem koncentrátum.
Erre a vizuális közegre rezonálnak Suhajda Gábor munkái. A formák fekete és fehér redukciója nem puszta esztétikai döntés, hanem alkimista gesztus: a látványból szerkezet, a szerkezetből jel, a jelből csend lesz. A képek nem ábrázolnak. Az élesen elválasztott síkok, a körívek és metszések egyszerre idéznek ipari architektúrát és egyfajta poszttranszcendens gótikát, mintha a funkciójukat vesztett katedrálisok rózsaablakait helyettesítő izometrikus neonreklámokat látnánk. A sík és a tér között vándorolva lebegnek a dimenziók közötti senkiföldjén.
A kiállítás nem dokumentál és nem reprezentál, hanem desztillál. A fotók és festmények nem illusztrálják egymást, inkább interferálnak, mint két különböző frekvenciájú városi zaj, amelyekből váratlanul tiszta hang születik. A városi séta itt beavatási gyakorlat: minden sarok egy döntés, minden árnyék egy önmagát éppen fel nem táró lehetőség. A fekete nem a hiány, hanem a fény rejtekhelye; ugyanakkor a fehér sem kizárólag a tisztaság, hanem a részleteket elfedni képes sűrű folyadék. Valahol a kettő határvidékén, egy félkör ívében, egy égve felejtett lámpa ellenfényében felvillan valami, ami talán jelentéssel telített látvány, talán csak a retina belső utóképe. És lehet, hogy a végén kiderül: a város mindig is absztrakt volt, amit csak rutinjaink és értelmezéseink tettek otthonossá.

The city does not sleep at night, it simply withdraws the people from itself. Miroslav Zselinsky’s black-and-white photographs are imprints of a depopulated Budapest: spaces, lights, edges and reflections discovered during walks and aimless wanderings. This time the gaze of the flâneur is not romantic but analytical: the passerby becomes a sensing surface, and the city changes into a slow organism glowing in the dark. The images appear as fragments of a cold, industrial body, as if pieces of the city’s own skin had been put back on the wall: a residual aesthetics in which absence is not loss but concentration.
Resonating with this visual environment are the works of Gábor Suhajda. The reduction of form to black and white is not merely an aesthetic decision but an alchemical gesture: from sight to structure, from structure to sign, from sign to silence. These works do not depict. The sharply separated shapes, arcs and intersections evoke both industrial architecture and a kind of post-transcendent Gothic, as if we were seeing isometric neon advertisements replacing the rose windows of cathedrals that have lost their function. Drifting between plane and space, they hover in a noman’s land between dimensions.
The exhibition does not document or represent, it distills. The photographs and paintings do not illustrate one another. Rather, they interfere, like two urban noises of different frequencies unexpectedly producing a clear tone. The urban walk becomes an initiatory practice: every corner a decision, every shadow a possibility that refuses to fully reveal itself. Black is not absence but the hiding place of light; yet white is not only purity but a dense liquid capable of obscuring detail. Somewhere along the border between the two, in the arc of a semicircle, in the backlight of a lamp someone forgot to switch off, something flickers: perhaps a sight filled with meaning, perhaps only the retina’s inner afterimage. And in the end it may turn out that the city has always been abstract; it was only our routines and interpretations that made it feel like home.
