SHOH Gallery is excited to invite you to the opening reception of 'Mapping Light and Color’. We are honored to present this exquisite exhibition of works by Yuzo Nakano and Kazuko Watanabe and look forward to having the gallery exclusively filled, upstairs and down, with their mesmerizing pieces. We invite you to join us to meet the artists, enjoy a glass of local wine and indulge in good conversation. At first glance, one might consider Kazuko Watanabe and Yuzo Nakano’s work very dissimilar, contrasting Nakano’s bold shapes and measured precision with Watanabe’s intricate and exacting subtlety. But when the viewer takes time to sit with the work and contemplate the pieces together, it becomes clear that these works speak the same language. A harmonious synergy emerges as their colors engage in a considerate dialogue and there can be a sudden realization that the geometric lines of Nagano’s piece, “Location in Unknown Circle”, have softened to lace while the precision of pattern and shape makes itself known in the soft abstracted flora of Watanabe’s “Awakening- as Lotus”. Each deeply explores the interplay of light and color and this exhibition is an invitation to listen in to that conversation.
