Maple sugaring is a time-honored tradition that connects us with our natural resources. Ever since Indigenous peoples discovered how to make sugar from the sweet sap, springtime sugaring has been a celebrated process that remains essentially unchanged from those early days.Join us on the beautiful campus of Saint Therese IHM Senior Living to visit our early 1800s sugar camp, where you can learn the science and methods behind the season's first harvest, take in the sights and smells of a bygone era, and discover the sweet story of maple sugaring as we bring in the year's first harvest over the warm fire.
Follow the signs to enter the Saint Therese IHM Senior Living campus from West Elm Avenue, then proceed to the guest parking lot. From there, walk the footpaths north to sugar camp!
Note: outdoor sugaring events are subject to cancellation based on uncooperative weather, so make sure to check back here for all up to date info!
The Monroe County Museum, located at 126 South Monroe Street, is open 7 days a week, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Museum admission and activities are free and open to the public.
