Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777, but this year we are expanding the conversation to honor the many flags that tell the stories of the people within our nation. Many Flags, One Community is an opportunity to explore the cultural significance and historical meaning behind symbols such as the Pan-African Flag, the Juneteenth Flag, and the Black American Heritage Flag while also providing the space to learn about other cultures and flags of other descendants. Reflecting on how culture, identity, and community continue to shape the American experience.
This gathering is rooted in education, celebration, and connection — creating space for dialogue, visibility, and appreciation for the diverse histories and contributions that strengthen our communities. Together we celebrate not just a nation, but the many voices, traditions, and stories that live within it.
