Course Overview and ObjectivesThis Manual Handling course is designed to meet the requirements of current Health & Safety legislation in Ireland. The training focuses on equipping participants with essential skills and knowledge to safely perform manual handling tasks, significantly reducing the risk of injuries, especially back injuries, which are a common cause of workers' compensation claims. Upon completion, participants will be able to effectively risk assess and carry out manual handling tasks safely, fulfilling the legal obligations for workplace safety.
Course Content and Materials:
The course covers the following key areas:
Understanding the importance of manual handling in the workplace
Anatomy and biomechanics of the back and other vulnerable body parts
Identifying manual handling risks and how to assess them
Practical techniques for safe lifting, carrying, and moving loads
Preventative measures to avoid musculoskeletal injuries
Hands-on practice sessions to reinforce learning
All training resources are provided, including practical equipment for demonstrations and hands-on practice.
Assessment and Qualification:
Participants will be assessed through both theoretical and practical exercises to demonstrate their understanding and application of safe manual handling techniques.
On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate of completion.
Certification is valid for 3 years.
