Wednesday, March 11, 9:00-11:00 AM. The Mangrove Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society invites you to join Dr. Bob and Barb for a morning of Botanical Meanderings at Myakka State Forest. Our meanderings will take us through a xeric pine forest along the Gordon Smith Trail, which has a large variety of wildflowers. Because the park is burned regularly, it remains in a sub-climactic state. The slow pace of this plant identification “walk” allows plenty of time to identify and photograph native plants along the trail. Located at 2555 S. River Rd in Englewood, drive about ¾ of a mile to the parking lot by the ranger station where we will meet. There is a $2 park entrance fee, payable online or at the park. All are welcome.
