Join us for a peaceful winter paddle through the beautiful Coffee Pot Bayou — one of St. Pete’s most reliable cold-season hangouts for Florida manatees. As temperatures cool from December through April, manatees naturally migrate toward calmer, slightly warmer inshore waters. Coffee Pot Bayou offers exactly what they’re searching for: shelter from chilly open-bay temperatures, gentle protected channels, and a freshwater inflow from Crescent Lake that creates comfortable conditions near the surface.
Expect a slow, peaceful paddle surrounded by mangroves, birdlife, and (if we’re lucky!) manatees surfacing nearby for a breath. We maintain a respectful distance and keep noise low so these gentle giants can enjoy their safe space — and we get to observe them without disturbing their routine.
Perfect for: wildlife lovers, families, photographers, and anyone who wants a relaxing, meaningful connection with nature this time of year.
What to know:
• Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but winter offers your best chance.
• This paddle is beginner-friendly and intentionally slow-paced.
• We’ll share manatee facts, conservation tips, and local insights along the way.
