About this Event
The ‘Managing Disciplinary and Appeals Processes’ training is a 3-hour training course which supports those working in sport to develop an understanding of the purpose of a disciplinary hearing, how to conduct hearings, how to decide disciplinary action and the appeals process. This training has been developed in line with ACAS requirements and the CMSS guidance document. Through exploring a case study, sharing learning across SGBs and from lived experience this training will provide an understanding of disciplinary and appeals processes, along with key documents and steps to support those involved.
This training is initially aimed at anyone within Scottish Governing bodies of sport that will be involved in managing disciplinary and appeals processes. While it is not essential to attend the ‘Undertaking Investigations and an introduction to Disciplinary processes’ training in advance, knowledge of the investigation process is recommended. When a wellbeing and protection complaint or concern arises, it is necessary for more than one individual from an organisation to be involved. We would therefore recommend that more than one individual from your organisation attends the training. For example, this could include the Wellbeing and protection officer, a HR member who would be involved in the disciplinary process and the CEO. We recognise that the roles and responsibilities vary across SGBs and recommend that everyone involved in this process has appropriate training.
