About this Event
The first half of the day will be a review of various types of addictions, including but not limited to alcohol, supplements, illicit drugs and various behaviors. Participants will gain insight into their own maladaptive self-soothing behaviors and the function of these behaviors. Further, the trainer will assist the participants in exploring their implicit and complicit biases about the wide range of addictive maladaptive coping behaviors and the people who use them to cope.
The second half of the day will be an exploration of the common schemas that get activated in counselors and therapists while working with their clients. Participants will gain greater insight into how these schemas and their own maladaptive coping modes are informing their current treatment approaches. Lastly, the day will end with inviting a shift in perspective to incorporate a sense of caring towards the core needs of themselves and their clients to inform them of the service they provide.
