For parents/caregivers of preschool through high school aged children.
News of the mental health crisis in young people is overwhelming. How can we help our children manage anxiety without being swept up by fear and confusion ourselves? In this program, national expert Lynn Lyons will offer practical strategies to reduce anxiety and promote resilience in children from preschool through high school (as well as in their caregivers). Topics addressed will include:
- How to prevent anxiety and teach young people to connect with others and manage emotions in an effective way
- Step-by-step instruction for helping a child suffering from anxiety, or anxiety-related matters
- How to help children manage social pressures, including social media and screens
- Resources available for support
- Current topics such as school refusal and other audience concerns
This special event will include time for audience q+a, community partner info tables, and an informal reception for connecting immediately following the program.

About Our Presenter
Lynn Lyons is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist in Concord, New Hampshire. She has been in private practice 35 years specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders in adults and children. Lynn travels internationally as a speaker and trainer on the subject of anxiety, its role in families, and the need for a preventative approach at home and in schools. She is a sought after expert, appearing in the New York Times, Time, NPR, Psychology Today, Good Morning America, Today Show and other media outlets. Lynn is a featured expert in the 2023 documentary Anxious Nation.With a special interest in breaking the generational cycle of worry in families, Lynn is the author/coauthor of several books and articles on anxiety, including Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents: 7 Ways to Stop the Worry Cycle and Raise Courageous & Independent Children, and the companion book for kids, Playing with Anxiety: Casey’s Guide for Teens and Kids. Her latest book for adults and teenagers, The Anxiety Audit was released October ’22. Lynn is the co-host of the popular podcast Flusterclux.

The Resilience Project is an innovative school and community-based program that promotes the emotional health and well-being of children, teens and those who support them. Our team of mental health specialists partner with parents, caregivers and schools in the greater Newton-Wellesley Hospital community. We provide educational programming, expert clinical consultation, and targeted resources to reduce stigma, increase access to high-quality mental health care, and empower young people to become more resilient.
