Looking for a fun and meaningful way to get your kids outdoors these school holidays? Join us for the Malanda Nature Field Day, a FREE two-day environmental experience designed to spark curiosity, creativity and a love for nature!Dates: Thursday 9th & Friday 10th April 2026
Time: 9:00am – 11:00am each day
Locations:
• Day 1 – Dungavel Park
• Day 2 – Malanda Falls
Led by passionate university students from The School for Field Studies, children aged 5–16 will enjoy hands-on activities exploring the natural world.
Day 1 Highlights (Dungavel Park):
• Leaf collecting & plant identification
• Insect exploration with microscopes 🐜
• Nature arts & crafts 🎨 🌿
Day 2 Highlights (Malanda Falls):
• Interactive games on food webs
• Nature scavenger hunt 🔍
• Guided wildlife walk 🐾
• Traditional grass weaving 👨👩👧
Important: Parents/guardians must stay on-site and are encouraged to join in the fun!
This program also includes a short research project. Participating families will be asked to complete brief before-and-after questionnaires to help improve future programs.
