Making Sense of SEND Law and knowing your rights
This online workshop is delivered in partnership with IPSEA, the leading charity in the field of SEND Law in England. It is aimed at parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who want to have an understanding of the framework of SEND law. Attendees will learn about the legal rights that children and young people have to special educational provision that meets their needs as well as the duties of nurseries, schools and colleges.
During the session a member of IPSEA’s legal team will talk you through where to start, legal definitions, special education and health care provision, therapies, duties and statutory obligations of education providers. They will also cover SEND support and the SEND Code of Practice and involving specialists. There will be a dedicated time at the end of the session for attendees to ask questions and a copy of all resources will be emailed following the workshop.
Please note this workshop is funded by Reaching Families for parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in West Sussex only. It is not suitable for professionals.
