Making Our Stories Visible: A Visual Poetry Workshop
Join us for a hands-on visual poetry workshop led by poet and visual artist Camilo Loaiza
Bonilla. In this workshop, we will use personal and found images to explore storytelling through poetry and collage as a way of expressing identity and making our stories visible. You are invited to bring a copy of a photograph from the past any image that carries meaning or memory and, through the process of collage, we will write both to and with the image to create visual poems. All other materials will be provided. This workshop is open to all ages and skill levels, and we invite you to join us in a shared space for reflection, creativity, and community.

Camilo Loaiza Bonilla (he/him/él) is a Latine writer working to unwind generational silence as a queer, trans, first-generation immigrant. Exploring the intersection of poetry and visual art, he is the 2025-2026 Eleanor Merritt Fellow at The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
This workshop will support LGBTQ+ folks in the community to create works to be a part of our community exhibition, "0-99: An Art of a Rainbow Life : Still Here , Still Becoming we will keep your artwork on loan to be in the exhibition if you allow us.
