About this Event
Learn to make folded books and books with stitching and collage. Practice three bindings: Japanese stab, concertina and saddle-stitch, and make one–three books to take home. We’ll also talk about bookmaking history, view handcrafted books, and learn how mindful awareness can help us to make decisions while we work.
No experience necessary. This workshop is for anyone who would like to:
1. visually interpret personal interests
2. design and craft a unique keepsake book for yourself or to give as a gift
3. learn design principles: rhythm, harmony, balance, emphasis, proportion, unity…
while practicing mindful awareness of your space, work style, and the materials you are using!
Basic materials are provided. You may bring anything flat (or relatively flat) and lightweight to personalize your book/s: magazine or newspaper clippings, drawings, photographs, stickers buttons, beads, ribbons.
