Spend a creative day learning the fundamentals of willow basketry as you weave your own traditional frame basket—lightweight, practical, and made to be used.In this hands-on workshop, you’ll be guided step by step through the process, building your basket around a pre-formed frame and learning how to shape and strengthen it as you go.
What you’ll learn:
How to work with a traditional frame, including handle and ribs
How to weave using pairing and randing to build structure and form
How to control tension and shape to create a balanced, functional basket
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, as well as those wanting to build confidence with core techniques.
What’s included:
All tools and materials, including willow and prepared frames
Step-by-step instruction throughout the day
Tea and coffee (please bring a packed lunch)
You’ll leave with a finished frame basket and a solid understanding of the process.
No experience needed. Suitable for ages 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult). Willow weaving does require some hand strength and dexterity.
