2 Day Class: December 7 + 14 (1:30pm - 4:30pm)Join us for a two-part broom-making workshop where tradition meets magic. Over two consecutive Sundays, you’ll learn a variety of heritage broom-making techniques and create a few brooms that are both functional and deeply meaningful.
We’ll begin with demonstrations of three traditional broom styles:
turkey wing
hawk’s tail
woven-handled whisk
You’ll start practicing with tampico fiber, then move on to broomcorn once you get the hang of the techniques. By the end of the first session, you’ll choose the style and materials you’d like for your own “spirit broom,” and we’ll talk about gathering a handle. You’ll also have the option to work with tampico fiber tufts if you prefer a softer, more contemporary approach.
Whether you intend it for sweeping floors, clearing energetic space, or simply displaying as a handmade work of art, your finished broom will be an expression of your personal style and intention.
All skill levels welcome, come ready to work with your hands, connect with tradition, and leave with a broom you’ll treasure.
